UNTITLED BY MILLIMISA, 2019.

As the saying goes, art imitates life. In the midst of the #MeToo era and millions joining in on women’s rights marches across the country, the work of local artists Katye Waddle, Sydney Brown and Milli Misa embraces the many forms of femininity.

Juice: A Summer Art Show is an exhibition hosted by Independent Bar and Cafe that aims to reflect themes of respect, power and credibility.

The reception for the work will run this Friday, August 2, from 8-11 p.m., with live music from R&B artist NDO kicking off at 8:30 p.m.

Donations collected at the event and a percentage of sales of Coppertail Brewing drafts will be donated to Feeding Tampa Bay. All of the proceeds collected from art sales will go directly to the artists, whose work will be on display at Independent for the full month of August.

Independent Bar and Cafe is located at 5016 N. Florida Ave. in Tampa.
