Cam Bertrand is back. For one night, anyway.

Bertrand, 30, is a previous Floridaโ€™s Funniest Comedian and Best of the Bay winner. But he doesnโ€™t live near Tampa Bay anymore. Heโ€™s not even in Florida: Bertrand now calls Austin, Texas home, though heโ€™s usually on the road.

Heโ€™s toured 40 cities over the past four months, and in August alone heโ€™ll be in North Carolina, South Carolina, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Tennessee, Texas, Missouri, and Alabama.

And Florida, of course, including a date at Side Splittersโ€™ North Dale Mabry Highway location in Tampa.

Back in the day, you could see Bertrand share his brand of casual, self-deprecating humor all over the area, hitting open mics and jumping on any show he could find. His popularity soon grew, and a successful turn on “Americaโ€™s Got Talent” introduced him to millions of comedy fans. So a local appearance is a rare thing these days, but Bertrand is looking forward to it.

โ€œItโ€™s always the best when I get to come back home to Tampa,โ€ Bertrand told Creative Loafing Tampa Bay. โ€œI started at Side Splitters 10 years ago in the lobby (where they held open mics), and there truly isnโ€™t a place in the world that feels more like home.โ€

Tickets for Cam Bertrandโ€™s show at Side Splitters in Tampa on Thursday, Aug. 1 start at $20.
