Five reasons why Always Sunny is oh-so-funny (with video)

Maybe it's because I am a complete Netflix junkie that I started watching it. Or maybe it's because several of my good friends would not shut up, telling me over and over that I had to watch it. Maybe it's because I felt left out of favorite coworker conversations because I didn’t know who "green man" was or that the D.E.N.N.I.S. system even existed. Whatever the reason, I have recently become obsessed with the brilliantly offensive, hilariously crude brand of comedy that is the formula for It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia (aka Always Sunny aka Sunny).

Since the show is going on its sixth season on FX, I get to watch five seasons of DVDs. Weekend mornings are fabulous: couch potato-ing for hours and Always Sunny marathons. So, from all the valuable time spent watching the satirical show, here are five random reasons I think the controversial half-hour comedy sitcom is some of the funniest television ever.

1. The Premise: A group of friends, aka “The Gang,” work together at Paddy's Irish Pub in downtown Philly, the City of Brotherly Love, which I find to be a completely ironic back drop for the blend of foolishly toxic relationships they have with one another. They are constantly backstabbing each other for personal enjoyment. As a viewer, you can almost feel the satisfaction Charlie gets when he convinces Mac it is a genius idea to do things like sleep with Dennis’ mother in the cleverly-titled episode, “Mac Bangs Dennis’ Mom.”

The shows are usually set up with the characters having to make a decision, and then the ludicrous shenanigans surrounding the decision. However, in Always Sunny, you can pretty much guarantee the choice being made is not the one a functional human being would make.
