Photography has gotten more competitive with the proliferation of quality cameras on phones and affordable high-end digital cameras and equipment. It can be discouraging for an artist starting out in the field, but here's a way to bring exposure to your work and be a part of a cool new cultural happening: The Florida Museum of Photographic Art is opening up its museum space for a Photography Benefit Sale.
The event offers a chance for local artists to hang work for 10 cents per square inch. They may then sell the work for their own selected price and and may receive 100 percent of their sales. There will even be a space for budding photographers 15 and younger.
The submission period is now through Nov. 30. The opening night event will take place on Dec. 4 and photos will remain on display for the whole month.
Work must be submitted by Nov. 30 at the museum, 400 N. Ashley Drive, Cube 200, Tampa. fmopa.org.
