If you’ve looked up from your phone anywhere in Tampa and St. Pete’s urban core, then you’ve likely seen a Read Movement sticker (stylized “READ”), with the word “READ” over a woman’s eyes.
On Friday, the 13-year-old campaign designed to promote the love of education, one impression at a time pops up at Venus for a print party where “READ” prints, T-shirts and totes will be for sale (you may also bring your own shirt to be printed on-site). DJ Mike Blenda rocks the wheels of steel, and 10% of all sales go to Justice Studio, the only in-house art studio program at two Tampa Bay area juvenile detention facilities (three days a week, Justice Studio provides tools, supplies, and guidance for these youth to work on independent and group art projects.)
"READ Movement" print shop pop-up. Fri. Jan. 31, 5 p.m.-9 p.m. Free to attend, bring money for donations. Venus, 244 Dr. MLK Jr. St. N., St. Petersburg. bit.ly/READparty
