Aspiring auteurs, DIY directors, would-be underground mavericks and every filmmaker in between, take note: The Suncoast Credit Union Gasparilla International Film Festival (GIFF) has begun accepting entries for its 2017 Festival Program.

The weeklong festival, which is heading into its 11th iteration and is always a huge deal here in the Bay area, takes place March 2-9 next year. GIFF will be accepting submissions from the following genres: U.S. narrative, U.S. documentary, made in Florida films, international films, college productions, and high school productions. There will also be special categories for children and family films, musicals and horror.

Acceptance will be made on a rolling basis — which doesn't mean there's no deadline, but does mean applicants may be contacted by GIFF before the entry period closes. Depending on the category, accepted filmmakers are eligible for stipends for travel and accommodations; they will also receive 2 All Access passes to the Festival, as well as the possibility of eligibility for the Grand Jury and the Audience Choice Awards.

Entries can be submitted by visiting the festival's website, and clicking on the submit via Withoutabox link. They will be accepted until December 15, 2016, although there will be an extended late deadline up to January 2.
