Art lovers can get their first glimpse at St Petersburg’s new experiential art exhibition Fairgrounds this weekend.

Guests will get the chance to preview the Fairgrounds’ signature installation—"Floridrama," where artists “create custom dioramas depicting tiny worlds offering a universe of possibilities”—at a pop-up event this Saturday, Dec. 12 from 11 a.m.-5 p.m.

The event will also feature a ribbon-cutting for the Keep St. Pete LIT Reading Garden & Outdoor Classroom.

“As a hub for families to explore and develop a love for the arts, supporting efforts like St. Pete LIT’s Reading Garden is an important part of Fairgrounds’ commitment to playing an active role in St. Pete’s creative and education community,” Fairgrounds Education Manager Liv Scully said in a release.

The 15,000-square-foot art exhibition, located at 2622 Fairfield Ave S, is part of The Factory, a creative and cultural hub for the St. Pete arts community. Fairgrounds was conceived as a celebration of Florida—especially the weird and wacky—and will offer a variety of opportunities to artists and creatives. After calling for artists submissions back in April, Fairgrounds founders Liz Dimmitt and Mikhail Mansion have invited almost 70 artists to propose ideas for the project.

The entire Fairgrounds is set to open up along with The Factory in Spring 2021.
