Things got awkward at Tempus Projects last night thanks to Wallace Wilson and Lisa McCarthy. The photographer and painter, respectively, opened a new collaborative exhibition “Awkward Transactions” in Ybor City, showcasing a process where Wilson’s large-scale photos are joined by McCarthy’s brush for singular pieces of work.

Also opening last night at the Kress Contemporary building was “Nothing to See Here,” a group show featuring sculpture, video, paint, mixed media and drawings all reflecting on what happens when we’re all alone doing everyday things. The exhibition includes work from artists including Anna Hemmerich, Jenn Ryann Miller, Kaylin Price, Jessi Sherbet, Erin Titus, and more.

Both shows are on display inside Tempus Projects—located on the second floor of the Kress Contemporary building at 1624 E 7th Ave. in Ybor City—until May 28.

A man in a pink shirt and dark pants leans in closely to examine a small, framed artwork on a white gallery wall. To his left, a large, rectangular tan-colored installation is mounted on the wall, dotted with dozens of small, white sculptural elements. The scene is set on dark wood floors under soft gallery lighting.
