When was the last time you visited the St. Petersburg Museum of History? Visit the waterfront venue before the sunset this evening to check out local historian and CL contributor Cathy Salustri (who wrote this week’s visual arts column on  Portspace Gallery) exploring the Work Progress Administration (WPA)’s 1939 Guide to the Southernmost State Floridian driving tour down U.S. 19.

The discussion will feature information on the Watermelon Queen in Monticello, swimming with manatee in Florida’s springs and the Grandma Mermaids of Weeki Wachee Springs, along with other “hidden delights” found on the route. Mingle and wet your whistle beforehand — a cash bar will also be open at the event.
