If you're a John Waters fan, you know about his frisky holiday show, A John Waters Christmas. He's bringing his act to the Capitol Theatre on Wed., Dec. 16, at 8 p.m. In the show, Waters pokes fun at the holiday season with saucy, risque humor — expect him to “put the X in Xmas.”
It's never too early to plan to attend this first-time event in Tampa Bay. Tickets go on sale this weekend, Saturday, March 7, at 10 am. Tickets are $35 for the cheap seats and $45 for a closer view. A limited number of VIP packages, including a meet and greet with Waters, are $100.
The cult icon filmmaker, famous for his early low-budget films filmed in his Baltimore hometown with his recurring cast of friends known as the Dreamlanders, went mainstream with the films Serial Mom and Hairspray, which has been adapted to a hit Broadway musical.
In Waters' show we get to experience more of his rapid-fire monologue and skewering of holiday movies, rituals and traditions. Waters will delve into his obsession with Santa Claus and real-life holiday horror stories. With religions being touched on, it will interesting to see what the Pope of Trash makes of Scientology's religious headquarters in downtown Clearwater.
