"I loved your show more than pussy"

We at Jobsite Theater have been collecting quotes sent to us via email or Twitter or what-have-you since Wednesdays preview production.  We've also culled a few soundbites from bloggers who've attended over this opening weekend.

The best quote though came from a bartender friend who saw the show Sunday afternoon who sent a text message late last night, as my wife and I sat on the couch watching a DVRed episode of The Dog Whisperer.

Wow.  Immediately I asked the girl to text him back and ask if I could use it.  He didn't have a problem with it (It was Jeff Diamond, New World Brewery). Thinking later on it, I REALLY wanted to use the quote but wondered if I could really get away with it officially in our online materials.  That quote actually screams to go into a print ad, which I know no paper would run (well, CL might ...).

I mean, I'm just not sure if there is much higher praise out there than those six words, especially when you know the source as well as I do.

But then there's the quandary of running a business, I suppose, where you're trying to not only appeal to hip, rabble-rousing bartenders and the patrons they serve on any given night while also trying to coax Mr. and Mrs. Middle America into spending time and money with you.  I have a feeling that endorsement might work better on Mr. Middle America than Mrs ...

As crass as that might read, there's no mixing up how he felt, and it darn near may be the best compliment I've ever gotten.  Direct. To the point.

You gotta like that.

I might just need to leave it that Tampa is prepared for only so much truth in advertising.
