Interview with comedienne Maria Bamford, at The Tampa Improv March 11-14

Maria Bamford’s career is as versatile as her signature impressions. She’s tried everything from stand up to TV, major motion pictures, cartoon voice-overs and improv. Her willingness to do anything and her uninhibited, self-aware humor, have endeared her to audiences across the comedy spectrum. She’s been linked to the likes of Brian Posehn, Patton Oswalt, Zach Galifianakis, and Sarah Silverman, and has graced prime time and late-night slots alike.

She’ll be at  The Tampa Improv in Ybor March 11-14, and I have to admit, I’m super excited about the show. Her stand-up is characterized by her use of voices — voices so accurate they easily carry her act from beginning to end — and her signature, self-deprecating humor. Added to that, her own giggly, girlish voice makes her personality one that’s easy to laugh with. I called her up in California to talk about raspberry jelly, carbon-dating, and Teddy Roosevelt’s Rough Riders.
