Welcome back to Kevin's Korner, that little spot on Daily Loaf dedicated to giving you all the movie news from the past week. So, lets look at a week dominated by Basterds, Angelina Jolie, Batman 3 and remakes.
MOVIE NEWS
Jolie's back for Wanted 2: If you have seen Wanted, you know there could be a certain conundrum here. Spoiler Alert: Jolie's character dies at the end. But the writers seem to be looking for ways around this tiny issue, and have already contacted the actress about returning. So, let me know what you think in the comments section, but I would say go for it. I mean, it's not like anything else in the movie was true to life, so why should death be the exception?
More Batman 3 rumors: It seems like every week there is some gossip column talking about a casting rumor for Batman 3. Last week, I talked about Christoper Nolan coming back. This week, the news is villain casting in the form of Catwoman. The gossip, despite being very, very unlikely is Megan Fox as Catwoman. If you believe this true, I have some land to sell you that I bought from Santa Clause. This rumor goes along with Eddie Murphy as the Riddler, Angelina Jolie as Catwoman and Jaime Fox as Batman. Out of all the rumors, which one is your favorite?
Spielberg to helm unpublished Crichton novel – The late, great author Michael Crichton, responsible for books like Jurassic Park, Sphere and Andromeda Strain, penned one last novel before his death. It was announced today that Steven Spielberg has acquired the rights to the book, titled Pirate Latitudes. The novel is said to be nothing like what the late author had written before. Personally, I'd love to see Spielberg's take on pirates. No word yet on whether they've contacted Johnny Depp.
Hancock 2 has writers – The writers of TV show The Shield, Adam Fierro and Glen Mazzara, have signed on to write a sequel to the Will Smith blockbuster. Apparently, the writers will be working with Smith and director Peter Berg to expand on themes from the first movie. I enjoyed the original despite it's being an uneven film, and hope the second one is better than the first.
Delgo mulling Avatar suit – Fathom Studios, the company responsible for a movie called Delgo, have commented on what they call "remarkable similarities" between their movie (seen by four people) and the James Cameron movie Avatar. Since they are currently mulling over their legal options, I have to remind you of the fiasco that was Watchmen and the legal dispute over the rights. But this seems like they are just mad that the creatures look alike. Can't they tell Cameron's creations are blue? Duh.
Have you gotten your Avatar ticket yet? AMC has already started selling tickets to James Cameron's Avatar a full four months early. TMZ is reporting that over 75 locations are pre-selling IMAX tickets after the huge response to the 15 minute trailer that premiered last week. If I buy a ticket now, I am positive I would lose it by December. You digging into your wallet?
Pirates 4 plot revealed – There has been plenty of talk over what adventure Jack Sparrow will get himself into in the next Pirates of the Caribbean movie, and now we know. Johnny Depp's Capt. Jack will be after the fountain of youth, and I'm sure Geoffrey Rush's Capt. Barbosa will be in the mix somehow. I loved the Pirates movies, and will happily go see another one. Just don't hide the rum.
