Lots of folks have celebrated birthdays in Largo Central Parkโ€™s three decades. Now, the park is having a birthday party of its own.

Born in 1995 after more than a decade of planning, the 70-acre park is a gathering place for folks from nearly every walk of life, from LARPers to, old couples walking hand-in-hand, new families, joggersโ€”and a whole heck of a lot of kids who flock to the sprawling playground.

Home to Largo Central Park Performing Arts Center, the park also transforms into an illuminated wonderland each winter and plays host to the Largo Central Railroad, a volunteer-operated, rideable model rail system that takes riders on a 15-minute, one-mile trip through the park at least once a weekend.

The City of Largo hosts a family-friendly 30th birthday celebration this weekend, including games, inflatables, live entertainment, food vendors and free cookies. And yes, the train runs this Saturday-Sunday, starting at 10 a.m. (until 3:45 p.m. on June 7, and 12:45 p.m. on June 8), weather permitting.

There is no cover for Largo Central Parkโ€™s 30th Birthday Celebration happening Sunday, June 8 in Largo.
