On Saturday, Pale Horse Design and Gallery closes the doors on a showcase of graffiti-based work by more than 30 international, national and local artists. Organized by Florida crew Hazardous Battle Tactiks (members include Sane and Center, whose handiwork you may have seen recently at a live demo of Montana spray cans at Central Art Supply Company or in the windows of Ybor's Urban Outfitters), the exhibit includes artists from Belgium, Greece, the U.K., Ohio, Spain and California. Sights range from a massive collaborative piece by Center and Sane to smaller works on paper. If you'd like to help Hillsborough County do more for the arts, here's your chance: The Arts Council of Hillsborough County needs to fill four vacancies on its 15-member board of directors. Prospective board members should expect to serve a four-year term and be knowledgeable about the arts with an in-depth familiarity with at least one discipline (e.g., dance, theater, visual arts). Candidates must also be Hillsborough County residents. The Arts Council, which was created in 1967, distributes grants to artists and arts organizations each year and facilitates outreach programs for youth and elders. The application period is open until Aug. 29; to read more about the requirements and to download an application, go to tampaarts.com.
