Last hurrah: Rays blanked in final home game of regular season

Look, Honey, twins! They laid another egg!

Sigh. In front a of a packed house, with 20,000 free tickets up for grabs, the Tampa Bay Rays were on the losing end of a three-hit shutout at the hands of the Baltimore Orioles for the second time this week. Wednesday night's letdown happened to be the last home game of the regular season, not exactly going out with a high note but it was a great crowd of which to be a part (36,973 strong, officially).

Maybe, just maybe, there was a bit of a hangover after last night's celebration, when the Rays shutout those same Orioles and clinched a postseason appearance. That's not an excuse I want to hear for adding a bookend to the three-hit, shutout loss that went down Monday night.
