Apparently Wednesday nights are the Tampa Bay Lightning's favorite night of the week. Entering play this week, the Lightning had not suffered a regulation loss on that particular day, a trend that continued with a 5-3 victory over the New York Rangers at the St. Pete Times Forum.

The Lightning jumped out to a huge early lead in this one, with Ryan Malone opening up the scoring at the 7:06 mark of the first period after a huge scramble in front of the New York net in which they had at least six or seven quality scoring chances. Malone scored again at the 15:37 mark with his fifth goal of the year, this one on the power play, extending the lead to 2-0.
