The Tampa Bay Lightning were hoping for a bounce-back effort against the Florida Panthers on Saturday night at the St. Pete Times Forum. While they did get a much better effort, the Panthers ended up winning the game 4-3 in a shootout.

The Bolts opened the scoring at the 10:21 mark of the first period when Teddy Purcell tallied his fifth goal of the season on the power play. The play was set up on a beautiful feed from Steven Stamkos, who notched his 18th assist of the year.

The Lightning extended the lead at 10:12 of the second period when Dana Tyrell scored his third goal of the year. Tyrell put home a rebound into a wide-open net off a shot by Mattias Ritola. With the Lightning looking to be in control and on the power-play, the Panthers were awarded a penalty shot at the 12:22 mark of the second when Radek Dvorak got tripped up. Dvorak had no trouble beating Lightning goaltender Dan Ellis to get the Panthers back within a goal.
