ideal, an exhibition by Amy Royale, opening at Centre Gallery May 2, offers an autobiographical account of the psychological and physical struggles of weight-related issues. The show has been designed to confront the viewer with uncomfortable imagery and expose the toll body image perceptions take on the psyche. ideal also takes a penetrative look at non-traditional beauty; the raw, beautiful and powerful. A closing reception for ideal will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday, May 6, in the gallery at the Marshall Student Center in room 2700, 4202 E. Fowler Ave., Tampa, Fla. It is free and open to the public. Royale plans to graduate December 2011 with two bachelor's degrees in psychology and studio art with an emphasis in photography.
