Downtown’s University of Tampa recently finished construction on its new arts center and is decorating the space with a fresh piece of artwork by UT Alumna Nneka Jones who’s already made a name for herself in Tampa and beyond since graduating with her BFA in May 2020.

The Gasparilla Arts Festival committee selected Jones as one of 15 emerging artists in 2019, while she was still a student at UT. In 2020, the 23-year-old artist gained a national reputation when Time magazine commissioned her to design the cover for their August issue, “The New American Revolution.”

UT students and faculty are welcome to view Jones’ piece along with additional artwork from UT students, faculty and alumni this spring.
