Mick Foley sells out Side Splitters

The famous wrestler and author is trying his hand at stand-up in the Bay area Thursday night.

Taking a steel folding-chair to the face can’t be very humorous. Nor can being thrown off the top of cage meant to hold either a climactic battle, or perhaps a large dinosaur. Still, WWE Hall of Fame inductee, Mick Foley (aka Cactus Jack, Mankind, Dude Love) has gone from being a “Hardcore Legend” to a stand-up comic. Yes, he’s escaped the steel cage and is now slinging stories and jokes all over the world.

A sellout Tampa crowd welcomes him this week, not unlike how he might welcome a barbed-wire covered baseball bat to an unsuspecting wrestling opponent. The two-time New York Times best-selling author delivers his trademark wildness and warmth with a passion that will remind fans of his legendary ring days.

If you get ahold of a $25 ticket, the show is Thurs., May 15, 8 p.m., Side Splitters, 12938 N. Dale Mabry, Tampa, sidesplitterscomedy.com
