MOSI receives Exhibit of the Year honor

The Museum of Science and Industry (MOSI) has received the 2010 Brush Strokes Award for Exhibit of the Year. Local museums recognize The Brush Strokes Award as the only comprehensive awards representation of the arts throughout Tampa Bay.

MOSI was selected for their DaVinciThe Genius exhibition that premiered at the museum in early 2010.  DaVinci – The Genius, a world-acclaimed exhibition from the Il Genio de Leonardo da Vinci Museo, brought to life the historical figure as an inventor, artist, scientist, anatomist, engineer and architect.

Previous recipients of this award have included Leepa-Rattnor Museum (a three-time award recipient), International Miniature Show-Florida Miniature Society, Tampa Museum of Art, and The South Shore Arts Council for Big Draw Ruskin.  For the first five years, the awards were sponsored by Sunbelt Publishing and The Tampa Tribune.  Last year’s sponsorship was relinquished to the arts council with The Greater Brandon Arts Council designated as the event host.

This year’s award ceremony will be held at Center Place, 619 Vonderburg Drive, Brandon, on Oct. 28. with a reception beginning at 6:30 p.m. and an awards presentation from 7:15- 9 p.m.  The South Shore Arts Council President will present to Wit Ostrenko, President of MOSI, the award for the 2010 Exhibit of the Year.
