Get spicy with this 1986 comedy with a (sort of) Mexican flair — The Three Amigos stars the trifecta of comedic awesome: Steve Martin, Chevy Chase and Martin Short. For two months a year, St. Pete Preservation takes over North Straub Park on Thursday nights and shows beloved classics and cult favorites. Some people stretch out on blankets while others bring coffee tables and luxury sling chairs; some folks snack on kettle corn (St. Pete Preservation members get a free cup of the sugary stuff) and Bud Light while others sip Whispering Angel and Brillat-Savarin. Your call, moviegoers. A definite pet- and kid-friendly event; valet bike parking. The prime seats go super-early, so if sitting up front matters to you, plan on tailgating as early as 4:30 or 5. The Reina Collins Band plays (“Americana with a Cinco de Mayo flavor,” according to the press release) at 7 p.m. and the movie starts at dark. May 5, 7 p.m. North Straub Park, 350 Bayshore Dr. NE, St. Pete. 727-512-6727. stpetepreservation.org.
