Say what you will about the lottery — that it's an off-the-books tax on the poor, that it's a slush fund for bureaucratic special interests disguised as an educational boon — some of that sweet, sweet Florida Lottery lucre undeniably goes to help students.
When it's not being extremely cute, the latest Florida Lottery ad reminds us of that fact by letting us know it's funded more than 775,000 Bright Futures scholarships for students. The 30-second spot — produced by Tampa agency PPK, shot by Scott Pickett in Miami and featuring one of those scholarship students, Karli McGregor — also features scientists literally talking like dolphins, which, for those of us who love both dolphins and when science unabashedly goofs itself, is probably the main attraction here.
