On Saturday, one of the blocks newest tenants, Pale Horse Design and Gallery, celebrates its move to the six-oh-oh with a one-night party and art exhibition.
Run by Chris Parks, a Ringling-educated artist-designer also known as Pale Horse, the studios tattoo-like illustrations of altered mythical and religious icons have won a following both locally and beyond. The show, Splinters and Papercuts, debuts some of Parks latest works: new wood and paper engravings, skateboard decks, t-shirts and wooden jewelry (the Pharaoh Decks are pictured, right). On the same night, Collective Tattoo and Gallery, which has set up shop in an expansive space on the blocks east end, celebrates its opening with works by Sean Williams, Matthew Skinner, RedLetter1, Zen Glass and more. 7-11 p.m. Sat., July 24, Pale Horse Design and Gallery, 611 Central Ave., St. Petersburg, palehorsedesign.com. —Megan Voeller
