Welcome to On the Radar, where we preview upcoming events to mark your calendars for. Seinfeld showed us that a show about nothing could actually be pretty darn entertaining, heck, even legendary. Animals and Plants, a play by the award-winning writer Adam Rapp being staged this weekend by USF Honors Theater, seems to follow suit. Described as “a raunchy comedy set in the underbelly of Americana,” it tells the story of two friends snowed in a shabby North Carolina motel fueled by talks on life, existence and an upcoming magic mushroom deal with someone called “The Burning Man.” They should really just call this thing “College.” Animals and Plants, May 27-30, 8 p.m. Thurs.-Sat., 3 p.m. Sun., USF Theater Center, 4202 E Fowler Ave., Tampa, $15, $10 students and seniors, arts.usf.edu. —Andrew Silverstein
