Keep St. Pete Lit will offer its third live-in LitSpace residency to writers of fiction, poetry, plays, essays and memoir. No matter where he or she is from, the chosen scribe gets a $1400 stipend to defray travel and living expenses — but you have to start planning now. The two-week residency runs from April 8-22, 2018, but applications are due Dec. 15. To apply, click here.

“I was scrolling through Facebook when I saw it. I'd never applied for a residency before and I suddenly thought, ‘The kids are old enough now, and this one pays. Why not?’ I never expected to get it,” Last year’s winner, poet Alison Stone, said.

“I was thrilled by how vibrant the community is, the interplay between types of art,” Stone said. “The biggest surprise for me was that this was Florida, which I remember from childhood visits [to Miami] as quite different."

The resident will teach either a master class or workshop during their residency and give a public reading as part of the Sunlit Literary Festival. Applications get reviewed anonymously.

The LitSpace St. Petersburg Writers’ Residency encourages applications from writers whose work is underrepresented.

Applicants may apply from anywhere in the world, but they'll only review applications and writing samples submitted in English. Apply here.
