Previously on Lost: "The Candidate"

[Editor's Note: For more on Lost, check out CL's Lost Podcast.]

After a long two weeks, this week's episode of Lost packed quite a punch. There were highs (finally, Kate gets shot! Woo!) and lows (poor Baby Kwon is now an orphan), but incredibly well-acted parts by this season's most compelling characters made for an intense, emotionally charged hour. My favorite part of the episode was the Sideways world. Though we still don't know how it's going to reconcile with the Island world, it centered on two of my favorites this season/series: Jack and Locke.

Some highlights: Jack tells Locke he is a "candidate" for a special, experimental surgery within the first five minutes of the show; the twisty John Locke/Anthony Cooper situation, in which his father is left catatonic at the fault of Locke; Locke/Jack's heavy "I wish you would've believed me" conversation in the hospital; Bernard's strange demeanor in the dentist's office that indicated he might have some otherwordly knowledge.
