The Tampa Museum of Art has stepped up their presence with an internationally co-presented Chinese contemporary art exhibition, active participation in local arts events and most recently a high-profile Norman Rockwell exhibition. Most recently, the museum has hired a new director, featured as this week's A&E lead story.
The museum has also been busy preparing for its annual bash, Pride and Passion 2015: Forbidden. The soiree features an open bar stocked with Tito’s Handcrafted Vodka and Tanduay Asian Rum plus hors d’oeuvres from Anise Global Gastrobar, Bamboozle Cafe, Justhai, Timpano Italian Chophouse and others. Desserts, surprise entertainment, gallery access and a one-year membership to the Tampa make it all a big bang for the bucks.
What will the party entail? "Our theme, 'Forbidden' is our interpretation of a playful and sophisticated modern-day version of the Forbidden City in China," says event chair Kevin Reder, adding that he event will offer an elaborate re-creation of the Buddha Bar in Paris, which includes a chic Emperor's Lounge, the flirty Concubine Club and a street market on the terrace.
"We encourage people to dress in keeping with the theme," Reder requests. "Our colors this year are Kingfisher Blue, orange, black and Chinese Red. … it's going to be so much fun!"
Adds co-chair and incoming chair Okesene Tilo: "Performers from parkour to MMA to Harajuku girls will roam each space."
