As the last big event of Fashion Week in Tampa Bay, the Tampa Museum of Art hosted their sixth annual City: Fashion + Art + Culture fashion show on Saturday night. Structured as a fundraiser for museum programming, the event also serves to raise awareness of domestic violence.
Starring world-renown designer Zang Toi, his Spring 2016 collection was a hit with event attendees, with comments during the show ranging from, “Gorgeous!,” to, “Now that’s sexy!”
In the hour before the fashion show, guests mingled in the cool, blue-lit museum atrium with cocktails and small bites. Eddie V’s took care of guests with tasty hand-passed hors d’oeuvres, as well as a carving station and shrimp cocktail display outside on the patio. DJ Xplicid was also stationed outside, and spun electronic mixes to energize the well-dressed patrons up to the last minute before show time.
The models posed around the foyer for pictures before the main event, allowing guests a sneak-peak of the styles to come. Zang Toi was hard to miss as he drifted through the crowd, looking as though he could be on the runway himself. In a stunning, all-white outfit, he was glowing with excitement in a fitted coat and pleated skirt, which showed off his incredibly toned legs.
The open-air runway on the museum’s terrace was a fitting way to experience Toi’s elegant collection, with his first series of outfits looking crisp and clean in solid white. His styles involved contrasting combinations of tight/flowing, opaque/translucent, and dark/light to create smooth, classy looks to look forward to next spring.
