The 10th anniversary of Sarasota’s Harvey Milk Festival is happening in the same year as the 50th anniversary of New York’s Stonewall Riots and as the White House harbors an administration that seems OK with turning the clock back on LGBTQ+ rights.

That’s why there’s never been a better time to make the trip to Sarasota and celebrate the culture with the weeklong festival’s inaugural Run4Love race (May 4), the fest’s first historical exhibit examining LGBTQ+ history (May 9-11) and a “BASSment” dance night (May 10). The celebration’s cornerstone concert caps it all off on May 11 by reuniting local favorites MeteorEYES and welcoming out-of-towners like glam-pop band Ggoolldd, Brooklyn downpop act Pinc Louds and Georgia boom bap wordsmith Linqua Franqa (pictured).
