Outgoing Tampa Mayor Bob Buckhorn has been cracking the same joke about becoming your next Uber driver for the last few months, but the bittersweet ending to his eight-year run as the city’s leader really is right around the corner.
The Buckster loves his River O’Green St. Patrick’s Day party, and for his last one ever, he’s teaming up with Tampa’s Downtown to dye the Hillsborough River green at 11 a.m. after of a one-mile fun run (start is at 10 a.m., but registration kicks off at 8:30 a.m.) and ahead of other activities like live music, Irish games, a leprechaun costume contest plus the adults-only Shamrock Scavenger Challenger.
Pet friendly, free to attend, and, yes, the river dye is safe for humans and wildlife.
Sat. March 16. Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park, 600 N Ashley Dr., Tampa. 10 a.m.- 7 p.m. riverogreen.com.
