The St. Petersburg Regional Skatepark is celebrating one trip around the sun, and while the last year has also included a few dozen incidents requiring attention from police, this weekend’s festivities will highlight all that’s right about the public space.

Over $1,000 in cash and prizes will be doled out during competitions open to skaters and BMX riders of all ages who must register online via stpeteskateparkalliance.org (shop-sponsored and sponsored-amateurs are allowed, but no pro skaters or riders may enter).

Things kick off early (10 a.m.) and end before the afternoon. Sat. June 1, 10 a.m. Free to attend. St. Pete Regional Skatepark. stpeteskateparkalliance.org.
