"I saw the best minds of my generation destroyed by madness…"

Brother, we've all been there. Allen Ginsberg's "Howl" is a classic, but somehow reading it in college lit classes can't quite compare to the grittiness of hearing it read live at, say, a classic Florida bar. As part of the literary orgy we like to call SunLit, join Friends of the Jack Kerouac House for just that purpose. Old Key West Bar & Grill makes for the perfect setting, and talents like Bob Devin Jones, Becca McCoy, Peter Meinke, the Florida Boys, Grant Peeples, Ronny Elliot, Roy Peter Clark, John Richard, Big Jim Allen and Bart Hanchey are gonna make it — pardon the pun — a lit event. For your literary pleasure (as if that wasn't enough), Gio's Typos will create legions of typewriter poetry.

"…in my dreams you walk dripping from a sea-journey on the highway across America in tears to the door of my cottage in the Western night."

Tuesday, April 16 @ Old Key West Bar & Grill, 2451 Central Ave., St. Pete. 7 p.m.
