Quick, can you name the seven deadly sins? C'mon, all good Catholics should know this, and we can't be the only once-diligent Catholics out there… gluttony, sloth, greed, lust, envy, pride, anger and… um, pizza?
We're thinking it probably isn't pizza.
If you're curious why we're asking, well, we'll tell you: there's a nifty kind of ekphrastic coming 'round this weekend. An ekphrastic is a fancy word for "words describing art" and at this one, seven pieces of art will meet seven written works by local writers. Each writer will get a writing prompt and guess what those prompts will be? (If you didn't say "one of the seven deadly sins, you're a horrible guesser.)
The artists include D. YaeL Kelley, Zulu Painter, Jennifer Kosharek, Nathan Beard, Charlie Parker, Carrie Jadus, junk yard, Janos Enyedi, and Spathose. Writers include Arin Greenwood, Lisa Powers Tricomi, Heather Tinnaro, Elizabeth Brincklow and Shelly Wilson.
Oh, and we won't keep you waiting: covetousness.
