Some open mic readings are — how shall we put this? — not good. Not so (we hope!) with this Wordier Than Thou event, Saved by the Sunshine State: Writers share their stories of how they found themselves in Florida. As the name suggests, a curated list of writers will tell the audience how they made their way to Florida and how the Sunshine State saved them. This should make for a nice change of pace from the assault of stupid Florida shit in the news, right? Lynn Waddell, author of Fringe Florida (ask her about her Furry experience!) and Lisa Lanser Rose (ask her about her Kama Sutra sex with dogs in the room story) are among the speakers at the event, and also Wordier Than Thou favorites. If you think Florida is all bath salts and Chupacabra stories, head over to The Studio to hear these writers offer a fresh (and often humorous) perspective on what makes Florida their salvation.
