Time to make another excursion to one of Tampa Bay’s contemporary art garage galleries. This weekend, Coco Hunday opens a new solo show by local artist and USF graduate Libbi Ponce. The exhibition, “d_r_e_a_m_s_e_e_n__ii” and its opening reception features works by Ponce, an Ecuadorian-American artist whose work explores Latinx-Futurism and modes of decolonization. According to the artist’s statement, Ponce applies contemporary aesthetic methodologies informed by ancient Andean ceramics (erotic and anthropomorphic), the virtual realm, and mythology to probe discourse on gender and sexuality. Time to take a step out of the beach galleries with watercolor pelican paintings and dive into Ponce’s playground of pleasures.

Sat. Feb. 15, 6 p.m-10 p.m. Donations accepted. Coco Hunday, 212 W. Thomas St., Tampa. cocohunday.com
