In the run-up to the 2019 Women’s World Cup, CL wrote about a national team commercial filmed in Tampa in which Bay area athlete Jasmine Johnson — who’s searching for a bone marrow match after fighting chronic myeloid leukemia for the last decade — appeared as an extra.

The women’s team reached its goal by winning the tournament, but Johnson is still looking for her champion since only 4% of people on the Be The Match registry identify as black or African-American. This Saturday run-a-thon benefit will raise awareness and funds for bethematch.org so that Johnson and other black and African-American cancer patients can get closer to relief.

It’s $5 per lap, and each lap gets you a raffle ticket.
