The Tampa History Center is set to host "Florida Conversations: Exploring Gasparilla and Mardi Gras" next week, just days before the pirate invasion begins. New Orleans Native Beryl B. Byles explores the histories, similarities and differences between two of the nation’s most iconic parades, Gasparilla and Mardi Gras.
Florida Conversations is free and open to the public, and is co-sponsored by the USF Libraries Florida Studies Center and supported by WUSF Public Media.
