Emmy Award-winner John Oliver's spry sass and eloquent delivery have attracted him a fan base that reaches way beyond the usual stable of basic-cable junkies. The charmingly gleeful critic of society shares his singular wry style with Tampa Bay audiences on Fri., Oct. 21, at the Straz.

Oliver as been a writer and correspondent on Comedy Central's The Daily Show with Jon Stewart since 2006. In 2008, Oliver starred in the Mike Myers movie The Love Guru, and is currently appearing in a recurring role in the NBC series Community and his own series for Comedy Central, John Oliver's New York Stand-Up Show. Oliver has had multiple Writers Guild and Emmy nominations for his writing on The Daily Show, and in 2009, he won the Emmy Award for Best Comedy Writing in a Comedy or Variety Series.

Oliver performs Friday, Oct. 21, at 8 p.m. at the Straz Center's Ferguson Hall. Tickets go on sale at noon on Fri., April 22.
