Seeing red this Valentines Day?
From now until Feb. 14, the Florida Aquarium will allow scorned lovers to name a Madagascar Hissing Cockroach after an ex or anyone who has rained on your parade for a
donation of $10.
Did someone break your heart? There's a cockroach for that. Did you get screwed over by a local contractor? Yes, there's a cockroach for that, too.
With your donation you will receive a commemorative certificate and photo of the cockroach. If you need to clear the air, your donation can also include a message, and family-friendly confessions will be posted with anonymity on The Florida Aquarium’s social media accounts.
Proceeds will support The Florida Aquarium’s world-class animal care and critical conservation efforts.
To name a cockroach, fill out
the donation form on the Aquarium website.
At nearly 4 inches in length, the Madagascar hissing cockroach is the world’s largest roach species, and is considerably larger than Florida’s wood cockroach (or palmetto bug), which can grow up to just 1.6 inches long. But besides its massive size, the Madagascar hissing cockroach also emits a hissing noise as a defense mechanism, according to the Aquarium.
