Okay, maybe a little: There's a lot of variety this week, and prices range from more than $60 for tried-and-true performers to absolutely nothing for funny locals. And yes, there are some clowns, too. Pick your favorites and enjoy some laughs this weekend:

Theaters and special events

Black and Brown Comedy Get Down at Amalie Arena. if Cedric the Entertainer, George Lopez, Eddie Griffin, D. L. Hughley, Mike Epps and Charlie Murphy all headlined shows on the same night in Tampa, comedy clubs would be packed on both sides of the bay. Jo Koy at Tampa Improv. Koy's well known to fans of "Chelsea Lately," and his frequent touring has helped him build a sizeable stand-up fan base as well. He'll bring an energetic set to the Improv for a string of special engagement shows.

Penny Circus at Tampa Improv. Penny Circus is kind of like a traveling carnival show, with clowns, stunts and illusions. It's not traditional stand-up, but if you're looking for something different, this could be the show for you.

Tommy Blaze at Side Splitters. Blaze’s forte is relationships, specifically the dynamics between men and women. Mike Marino at Snappers Grill & Comedy Club. Marino is known as “New Jersey’s Bad Boy,” and once he opens his mouth, there’s no question where he calls home. But Marino’s a witty guy, not a wise guy. G. David Howard at Sporty's On The Beach. Howard's weekly residence at Sporty's features the longtime comedian drawing from his decades of stage experience. Cigar City Comedy at Enigma (free show). Talented locals with plenty of comedy club experience provide some free funny in St. Petersburg.
