Those wonderful folks over at the Criterion Collection have made one of their biggest announcements ever! They are releasing 8 new Blu-ray sets (14 movies to be exact) in August, and they couldn't be more diverse. Titles include Stanley Kubrick’s The Killing (as well as his 1955 film Killer's Kiss), Jean Cocteau’s Orpheus, Roman Polanski’s Cul-De-Sac, Lee Chang-Dong’s 2007 film Secret Sunshine, Gillo Pontecorvo‘s The Battle of Algiers, Lindsey Anderson's If … and a box set on the works of Japanese cult director Koreyoshi Kurahara. Best of all: a box set of the complete works Jean Vigo (including his masterpieces Zero for Conduct and L’Atalante). If you're a film buff, you're going to go broke in August. Take a peak at The Criterion Collection's Coming Soon page for more info.

Still curious about Jean Vigo? I knew you were. Here's his anarchic 1933 short, Zero for Conduct in its entirety. Click here for background on the film.
