We know, we know: WTF happened to the summer? Oh, right, it's still here, but kiddos have to go back to all that readin' and writin' and 'rithmetic. And some kiddos don't have enough money for school supplies. Fun fact (OK, it's technically a not-so-fun fact): kids who can't afford school supplies or a new backpack perform more poorly than kids who can.
But that's where you come in.
Do we have to spell it out for you?
Um, actually, you get to spell it out — at the second annual Buzzed Spelling Bee and school supply drive at 81Bay Brewing. Bring either $15, a backpack or a set of school supplies, and 81Bay Brewing will give you a free brewski — plus you could win lots of other free goodies. Those goodies will come from local restaurants and other shops, so get there with your school supplies and take your chance on a free meal at Bonefish, or a free beer at Brew Bus.
Now, what about that spelling part? Ah, yes — up to 15 spellers will compete to see who spells the best. Here's where we learn whether "I spell better after I've had a few" bears out or not.
