TIGLFF Movie Review: Elliot Loves

A charming coming-of-age film opens the festival.

A sweet-tempered, quirky story set in NYC’s Dominican-American community, Elliot Loves is most entertaining when it focuses on Elliot (Quentin Araujo) as a boy — sassy, smart and protective of his beautiful, flighty single mother (Elena Goode) and allied with his outspoken Aunt Carmen (a fabulous Elaine del Valle). When Elliot (Fabio Costaprado) gets older, though, he goes from cute to needy, and you may find yourself sympathizing with the boyfriend who kisses him in order to get him to shut up.
