We love our pets, and everyone has a great pet story. Last month at True Stories, Lisa L. Kirchner told hers.
Check out this video of her telling us what she learned about love from her dog.

The featured teller for August is Mike Mayleben, a three-time True Stories champ! Other than that, the show is all about you and whatever it is you decide you want to talk about that pertains to quitting. The stories could go toward Office Space, or maybe it'll be like a therapy session and all about that person you quit. Or maybe it'll be like a 12-Step meeting. Whatever it is you quit, you get five minutes to talk it out. Know your first and last sentence, and take us somewhere, and maybe you'll be a featured teller someday. No notes, no props. Just you and your story.
There will be a "best" story voted for at each show, which may or may not be what ends up in this very column.
For a list of upcoming themes and information on becoming a featured storyteller or volunteer, check out the True Stories website.
True Stories was founded by Lisa L. Kirchner in cooperation with Keep St. Pete Lit. It's brought to you here by Creative Loafing Tampa. Trish Collins co-hosts with her ukulele as timekeeper, and Paul Palumbo shoots video.
