Is it possible an Old Northeast home has the best curb appeal in America?
Duh, say fans of the neighborhood known for its hex-paver-lined sidewalks, brick streets and highly individualized two-story homes.
It turns out all those rabid Old Northeast fans (hey, we don’t judge — we love your tavern!) may be right. HGTV selected one of the neighborhood’s homes, a Mission Revival at 2420 Andalusia Way NE (one block from Coffee Pot Bayou), as a finalist in its Ultimate House Hunt contest, which ends on July 17.
The contest has eight categories; the Old Northeast home competes against 11 other homes in the “Curb Appeal” category. Way we see it, it’s a winner, hands-down, because it’s the only one in St. Petersburg. The others? Well, there are three in California (freeways, earthquakes and water shortages!), two in Washington (sure, they have Starbucks, but there’s a Kahwa one the edge of Old Northeast), one in Rhode Island (which is about the size of Old Northeast), one in Vancouver (the average temp there never rises about 72º, so, um…), Georgia (Atlanta, land of traffic snarls and Ted Turner), Illinois (um) and Texas (a proud open carry state).
Way we see it, there’s no way the St. Petersburg home can lose, but they need you to vote for it, which you can do right here. Also, if you have $1.39 million and want to buy it, invite us to the housewarming, OK?
