For the second time ever the University of South Florida’s Black Alumni Society (BAS) is celebrating Juneteenth on the Tampa campus.

BAS promises “a vibrant Juneteenth Celebration that embraces unity and the spirit of freedom for all,” including educational programs about the holiday’s history and significance, activities highlighting African culture, nonprofit organizations and vendors, fellowship, plus entertainment for all ages.

“Come one, come all, as we unite in celebration and reflection on this important day in American history. Let’s commemorate Juneteenth together as a community committed to unity, justice and understanding,” organizers added.

Admission to the USF BAS Juneteenth celebration at the Sam and Martha Gibbons Alumni Center in Tampa on Saturday, June 15 is free with registration, and specialty event boxes are sold-out, but there are still commemorative yoga mats available via eventful.usf.edu.
