Beneath Stephen Colbert's hilariously iron- fisted exterior lies the heart of a trendy, middle-class twentysomething apparently. That or he just really knows his demographic. Either way, the titan of thruthiness has been on his game as of late inviting some choice indie acts – The Mountain Goats, T.V. On the Radio, and The Hold Steady just to name a few – to appear on The Colbert Report.
Last night was no exception when Vampire Weekend stopped by to promote their latest effort, Contra and perform "Holiday" off said album. While a great performance, the meat of their appearance, as well as these other acts', was the pre-show interview with Colbert. Amongst other topics, they discuss the real Contras, the Nicaraguan rebel group from the 80's, the nauseating vampire trend they've fallen victim to, and why anyone should give a fuck about an Oxford Comma. Link to the interview and performance after the break.
