It looks as though the sequel to The Goonies won’t arrive in theaters anytime soon, so content yourself with this 1985 classic about One-Eyed Willie (no, Loafers, not that one; get your mind out of the gutter!), a group of fairly stereotyped teenage characters and the age-old quest to stop developers. If you wonder why their parents couldn’t take a second job to bring their mortgage current, well, you’re not alone, but remember, this classic wasn’t marketed to people who wanted to think critically about story lines, it was marketed to people who wanted to see Sean Astin before he’d traveled to Middle Earth. The Skyway Marina District will hold a special showing complete with Heavy D’s BBQ on site and an open concession inside the theater. You can attend the movie for free, but the BBQ and concessions, of course, cost extra. Also, if you make a $5 donation to the Skyway Marina District you could win a swag bag filled with stuff.
